BCRR Weekly Update: October 19th to October 25th

HELLO BAYOU CITY ROAD RUNNERS 


Houston Half Marathon & 10K!!



Sunday, October 25th  marks the next race in the fall series! Half Marathon starts at 7AM, 10K starts at 7:30 AM.

John is seeking volunteers to help set up the tent Saturday afternoon, please email him to help: jrphillips@comcast.net

**NOTICE** As the majority of our runners will be competing in the race, there will be no official BCRR run this Sunday, October 25th. \

Halloween Party!!


The annual Halloween Party to be held at Modern B&B on October 31st, 2015. More details to follow. Save the date and get your costumes ready!

**NOTICE**

As Halloween is on a Saturday, the annual Sunday long run will be held SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31st. We will take the Bayou Route in this wacky change of events.

BCRR Garage Sale: November 6-7th

Finish up your fall cleaning and bring your "junk" over to the Modern B&B (4003 Hazard, Houston, 77098) between now and November 6th. 

We'll need volunteers to help us with the event at the Modern.

Garage sale proceeds will go towards the BCRR Christmas Party

Rockets Run!

Volunteers are needed to help us man water stations, call mile splits, and serve as road guards in this year's Rockets Run on Sunday, November 8th at 6:00 a.m. Please contact Susan Cita to volunteer: liveanddieinla@sbcglobal.net We will need 50-60 volunteers and your support is greatly appreciated!

It’s that time of the year again!! Alex’s 5K is right around the corner!! Race will be held Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at MacGregor Park.

Please consider running to support a great cause that is near and dear to the club!

Looking for a warm up to the 25K? Consider registering for Bel Inizio's Giving Thanks 5K/10K on Saturday, November 21st, at 7:00 am.

All proceeds from this race support Bel Inizio ~ helping women living in transitional housing improve their self-esteem and life skills through exercise and nutrition education.

WEEKLY CLUB RUNS:

Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. The goal is to increase membership and recruit new members with this new social event. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. **Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, Mellow Monday will be cancelled for safety reasons. 

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:15 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:30 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard). 

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one. 

Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.
