BCRR WEEKLY UPDATE - March 27th to April 2nd

GOOD MORNING BAYOU CITY ROAD RUNNERS!! 

HARRA Fall Series Champions!!!!

The final results have been tallied, and congratulations BCRR, we're the HARRA Fall Series Champions! We won both the Club and Team divisions, edging BARC by 400 to 390 in the Club. Thank you to all of our racers!

Make sure you race in the Spring Series to keep BCRR on top!!

As the Bayou is under construction and treacherous, we will be running Herman Park instead – same start time and location!

First Sunday of the Month Bayou Run & Breakfast!

Join us Sunday, April 2nd for a break from the routine by running along the Buffalo Bayou. 

Afterwards, meet us at Morning Star (4721 N Main) for a brunch following!

Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon

This fall, venture to Willamette Valley for a weekend of running, wine, and adventure! The race will be Sunday, September 3rd in wine country ~45 minutes from Portland. We are ironing out details for accommodations and logistics – Reply to this email to be included in further info! Race details can be found HERE

Bellaire Trolley Run 5K – April 8th 

The next race in the HARRA Spring Series is getting close. The 2017 Bellaire Trolley Run is scheduled for Saturday, April 8th. The race benefits PATRONS for Bellaire Parks and Bellaire High School Track and Field.

 Happy Hour – Bacco
(Friday, March 31st, 2017) Please join us this Friday at Bacco (5010 Dincans St.) for Happy Hour! It’s a great wine bar, with cocktails and beer as well! We will be celebrating Mark Miller’s birthday with cake!! See you at 6:30 PM.

WEEKLY CLUB RUNS:

Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. The goal is to increase membership and recruit new members with this new social event. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. **Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, Mellow Monday will be cancelled for safety reasons. 

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard). 

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one. 

Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.

Bayou City Classic 10K - March 18th 

Congrats to all who raced the Bayou City Classic 5K & 10K this Saturday! BCRR was again a strong presence and making a run for top of the Spring Series. There are a couple weeks to rest up until the Bellaire Trolley Run – April 8th!
