BCRR WEEKLY UPDATE - June 12th to June 18th

GOOD MORNING BAYOU CITY ROAD RUNNERS!! 

It's a week full of activities – Dash & Splash, Beer Mile, and Happy Hour!

 Wednesday Night Dash & Splash

Following the Wednesday night DASH across the bayou – we will make a SPLASH at Andrew Young’s house (4010 Mandell St.) for pool time, hot dogs, beer, and ice cream!!

 BCRR Beer Mile – Saturday, June 17th
  
This Saturday, Frank & Caitlin will be hosting a Beer Mile at Memorial Park. Run starts at 6:30 PM on the quarter mile asphalt track across from Mile 0. Full details & RSVP can be found on the BCRR Beer Mile Event Page 

Please RSVP to ensure your beer - Cost is $5!

After the event, venture to Discovery Green where the Fab 40 (featuring BCRR's Susan Latimer) will be performing the Beatles’ recording of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band! Concert starts at 8 PM.

 Hydration Station Volunteers Needed!

In the upcoming month, there will be several weeks where BCRR will need a hydration station volunteer on the Sunday Morning Run:
·        June 25th – Gas Station
·        July 2nd – Shepherd Bridge on the Bayou Routs
·        July 9th & July 16th – Gas Station

BCRR can provide you with all of the supplies. Please reply to this email to volunteer for a Sunday morning!

 Cocktail Making Class – Save the Date 

Saturday, August 12th – Chuck and Cheryl will be hosting a cocktail making class. You will learn what a cocktail is and the essential tools and ingredients needed for a well-stocked bar! Space is limited to 15 participants and there will be a fee for the class. More details coming soon!

SOCIAL CALENDAR:
 Happy Hour – Michael’s Outpost
(Friday, June 16th, 2017) Please join us this Friday at Michael’s Outpost (1419 Richmond Ave) –  a Congenial piano bar & cabaret with live entertainment & familiar drinks with a bygone flair! Show starts at 7:30 PM!
Sunday – Whole Foods
(Sunday, June 18th, 2017) Join us immediately following the long run for coffee and breakfast at Whole Foods on Waugh.
WEEKLY CLUB RUNS:

Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. 

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard). 

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one. 

Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.

**Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, group runs will be cancelled for safety reasons. Check the BCRR Facebook Page for the latest updates on run cancellations**
