BCRR WEEKLY UPDATE - January 29th to February 4th



GOOD MORNING BAYOU CITY ROAD RUNNERS!!

First Sunday of the Month Bayou Run & Breakfast!
  

 Join us Sunday, February 4th for a break from the routine by running along the Buffalo Bayou.  


 Afterwards, meet us at Chilosos (701 E 20th St) for a Mexican inspired brunch!

BCRR Super Bowl Party!!
Rob & Jules will be hosting a festive celebration as we cheer on the Patriots vs Eagles in frozen Minnesota, Sunday, February 4th!
Party start time 4:30 p.m. – until game over.
Jacuzzi will be available for those who would like to get in.
Please bring an appetizer/Super Bowl munches and beverages to share.
$10.00 squares available.
*They politely request for adult attendance only*

WEEKLY CLUB RUNS:

Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun.

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard).

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one.

Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.

**Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, group runs will be cancelled for safety reasons. Check the BCRR Facebook Page for the latest updates on run cancellations**

Chevron Houston Marathon Wrap-up
CONGRATULATIONS: Huge shout out to BCRR and the strong presence we had at the marathon! There were BQ’s, 1st Marathons, PR’s, and FINISHERS!! Everyone should be proud of the 13.1 or 26.2 you accomplished yesterday!
THANK YOU: It takes a team to support the crazy running habit, and thanks to our BCRR volunteers, we can continue to be crazy! Special thanks to:
·     Susan Cita & Katie Decker for passing out goodies and cheering us on at the aid stations
·     Chris McGrew for hand delivering our race day must-haves to the aid stations
·     Sue & Alan, Chuck & Cheryl, and Jim & Ivy for a post-race party to warm up, drink up, and celebrate the day’s accomplishments

(Friday, January 19th, 2018) Join BCRR for an alternative happy hour! Start at Discovery Green for a final winter celebration of ice skating! Details for the rink can be found HERE. Afterwards, head over to Phoenicia (1001 Austin St.) for a drink to warm you up! We will meet on the ice at 6:30 PM.

BCRR - MARATHON UPDATE



HAPPY (HALF) MARATHON BAYOU CITY ROAD RUNNERS!!

 Chevron Houston Marathon Information
Visit the BCRR Website for all the details of MARATHON INFORMATION

Race Morning @ GRB:
·        Club will meet inside GRB at Hall A prior to the race – Check the Facebook page for exact location details.
·        Christina will be collecting gear to be dropped at the air stations by Chris McGrew. Drop off your gear by 6:15 AM.
– Please label your gear in a ziplock bag – include name, pace, and aid station (13 or 20).
Race Support:
·        There will be 2 aid stations along the marathon route:
·         Mile 13: Hosted by Katie Decker
·         Mile 20: Hosted by Susan Cita
·        An additional watch and/or drop off location for will be located at the corner of Bissonnett & Mandell (around Mile 8, before the split)– With host’s Chuck and Cheryl providing Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s for those cheering! (5314 Mandell). Feel free to drop off clothing as the race temperature rises. Clothing will be brought to the post-race party.
