BCRR Weekly Update - February 27th to March 5th

GOOD MORNING BAYOU CITY ROAD RUNNERS!!

**Alternate Parking for Wednesday Run**


There will be NO PARKING at First Christian Church this Wednesday, due to Ash Wednesday services. Please respect the church’s request and park in the surrounding neighborhoods, $2 Rice Lot, or bike to the run.  

As the Bayou is under construction and treacherous, we will be running Herman Park instead. See you Wednesday!!

First Sunday of the Month Bayou Run & Breakfast!

Join us Sunday, March 5th for a break from the routine by running along the Buffalo Bayou.  

 Afterwards, meet us at Café Brasil (2604 Dunlavy St) for a coffee & breakfast!

Save the date for the following upcoming BCRR Events:

Spring Family Picnic + Community Service Day – Sunday, March 12th 11AM: Join us at The President's home (4010 Mandell) to first help his neighbor with a little yard work, and then picnic with burgers, beer, and yard games! *Please respond if you have an electric hedge trimmer we can borrow*
Oregon Wine County Half Marathon – Sunday, September 3rd: This fall, venture to Willamette Valley for a weekend of running, wine, and adventure! Reply to this email if you are interested in further information as we plan the trip! Race details can be found HERE

SOCIAL CALENDAR:
 Happy Hour – Edison 
(Friday, March 3rd,  2017) Please join us this Friday at Edison (4203 Edison St.) for Happy Hour! One of the newest gastropubs in the Heights, with bright lights and craft beer! See you at 6:30 PM.

WEEKLY CLUB RUNS:

Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. The goal is to increase membership and recruit new members with this new social event. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. **Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, Mellow Monday will be cancelled for safety reasons. 

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard). 

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one. 

Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.
