Post Run Pint

Good News! This Wednesday (8/2) evening, following the weekly run near Rice University, there will be a tab for BCRR members at Valhalla. Join the week's birthday celebration (in the courtyard next to Valhalla) at approx. 7:30 p.m. and enjoy a free drink courtesy of the birthday boy!

BONUS: As the first Wednesday of the month, it is also ALUMNI NIGHT. If you haven't visited us lately, we offer you a special invite. Come see your "old" friends, and make some new ones. Runners and non-runners welcome!

New Event Wins Wide Support

This past Saturday members of multiple Houston run clubs joined a fun run event at Benny Thunders. The hip Heights bar teamed up with Alex’s 5K, BCRR, HARRA, and PIM, to host their first ever fun run. The Run. Yoga. Beer. Breakfast. event was free and open to the public.

More than 40 participants started the day with warm-up stretching, followed by a casual run of 3, 5, or 7 miles, and ending where they started, at Benny Thunders bar. Once back at the bar, BCRR donated the first round, and the bar offered a special discount to runners interested in additional drinks.

The event also featured a raffle (with prizes of hats and race entries), free yoga and chiropractor tips, and sold food from a local BBQ aficionado.

Host with the most, Andrew Young mans the grill for the Dash & Splash event Wednesday, July 26.

A Cool Pool Party

In the middle of the summer it's nice to have gracious hosts like Andrew, Christina, and Addison Young, to welcome BCRR members to their home and refreshing pool. The cooldown splash event, after last Wednesday's evening dash was a great way to enjoy the night without suffering too much Houston heat. The evening featured grilled hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches, beer, and lots of dips in the pool. THANK YOU Youngs for your hospitality and hosting a wonderful Dash and Splash!

Party in the Park is scheduled for Saturday, Aug 19.

Call for Volunteers: Party in the Park

Saturday, Aug 19, BCRR joins HARRA for the annual Party in the Park where all clubs get together to celebrate running and invite nonmembers to join up. The fun includes beer, watermelon, music, lots of running clubs, and more!

Volunteers are invited to support this summertime soirĂ©e by helping BCRR and HARRA host tents. Sign up by emailing HoustonBCRR@gmail.com. We have some volunteers, but we need more. :-)

The event officially runs 7 AM - 10 AM at Memorial Park's running trail near the tennis courts. Best of all, it's FREE, but the club needs volunteers to make it happen. Save the date, Aug 19, and raise your hand to join our hosting team!

Sundays Need Hydration Support

Who likes water during the Sunday long runs? Especially during the summer temps! Our Sunday morning hydration team could use a little more help as people go on vacation. Please contact Loris at Loris0105@yahoo.com for more information on how to volunteer!

As the number of cases fluctuates, the BCRR Board kindly requests that you receive the COVID vaccination to minimize the risk to yourself and others. Wearing a mask is still encouraged. Please maintain social distancing prior to and following club runs. Additionally, if you are feeling ill, have a fever, or have been exposed to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, please do not attend club runs for 2 weeks.
