Yesterday, on a cold Sunday morning, nearly 50 brave souls joined BCRR's favorite endurance test - John's Looooong Run. The 21-mile run through Memorial Park, River Oaks, Tanglewoood, and adjacent neighborhoods was an exhausting training run designed to help runners prepare for next month's Chevron Houston Marathon. Kudos to everyone that had the strength to take on such an endeavor! An equally big endeavor was the huge task of making the run possible. Without the support of many volunteers, the event would NOT happen. Imagine the long list of chores: painting directional arrows on the roads, setting up water stations along the route, shopping for groceries, prepping and sous-chef work, setting up the buffet, non-stop cooking, serving, hosting, lots of clean up work, and more. The good sports that stepped up to get everything done included: Hosts Sue Leone and Alan Svoboda, Master of Ceremonies John Phillips, awesome volunteers Joel DuBois, Susan Cita, Ed Fras, Steve Hasson, Dave Piper, Avi Moss, Lisa Thompson, Alan Tillotson, Ally Serrao, as well as the Houston Striders' water team and, no doubt, several unsung heroes. THANK YOU all for a job well done! |
