BCRR WEEKLY UPDATE - January 1st to January 7th

Wednesday night @ Valhalla
Join Susan Latimer in celebrating her birthday with a tab at Valhalla this Wednesday! Happy Birthday Susan!!!
Sunday, January 7th – GRB Run

The final Sunday before the marathon, we will run the last 6 miles of the marathon (from Memorial Park to the GRB) and back. As this is an out and back course, you can adjust to fit your tapering distance. We will have the usual start time of 6:30 AM at mile marker 0.

Afterwards, join us at the Dunlavy (3422 Allen Parkway) for coffee and breakfast to celebrate the end of marathon training!!

Pasta Loading Party – Friday, January 12th
The Carb-loading Pasta Party will be at Buca Di Beppo (5192 Buffalo Speedway) at 7PM on Friday. 
Please respond to this email – christinabcrr@gmail.com to RSVP by Wednesday, January 10th!!

Race Day Details:
·        Club will meet inside GRB at Hall A prior to the race – Check the Facebook page for location details.
·        Chris McGrew will be collecting gear to drop at the aid stations Sunday AM – please label your gear in a ziplock bag – include name, pace, and aid station.
·        There will be 2 aid stations along the marathon route – please email the respective host for details and volunteering.
·         Mile 13: Hosted by Katie Decker - katie.h.decker@gmail.com
·         Mile 20: Hosted by Susan Cita – susancita.bcrr@gmail.com
·        An additional watch and/or drop off location for will be located at the corner of Bissonnett & Mandell – With host’s Chuck and Cheryl providing Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s for those cheering! (5314 Mandell). Feel free to drop off clothing as the race temperature rises. Clothing will be brought to the post-race party.

Happy Hour – 13 Celsius
(Friday, January 5th, 2018) Please join us this Friday for happy hour at the 13 Celsius (3000 Caroline St) – a cozy wine bar with a very relaxed atmosphere. See you at 6:30 PM!
Sunday – Whole Foods – to return after the marathon
Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun.
Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard).
To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one.
Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net
Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.
**Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, group runs will be cancelled for safety reasons. Check the BCRR Facebook Page for the latest updates on run cancellations**
