BCRR WEEKLY UPDATE: November 7th to November 13th

The next race in the HARRA Fall Series is this Sunday, November 13th. This triple loop course is an excellent distance for your ongoing marathon training. Registration can be found HERE.
Post-Race Party will be hosted by Paul & Sue Schulz (3030 Amherst St, Houston 77005). Please RSVP to pschulz100@gmail.com Pizza and drinks will be provided, pool will be awaiting! You are welcome to shower in the pool bath. Party starts at 11AM!
**There will be no Sunday supported long run due to the 25K**

THANK YOU!!!! To all the BCRR members who volunteered, ran, & cheered at Alex’s 5K on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful event to raise money and awareness for Autism.

Save the Date:

·         BCRR Invades Austin – November 19-20th: Susan & Steve Davis have invited BCRR to Austin! Festivities include a Saturday AM run with their run club, Ship of Fools, brunch, and cocktail hour at the Davis' home (54 Rainey St). Two hotels have been recommended based on location:

·         BCRR Christmas Lights Run & Party – Friday, December 9th: The annual Christmas Lights Run in River Oaks followed by a top notch Christmas Party at the Modern! More details to follow!

·          John’s LOOOOONG RUN will be on Sun. Dec. 18th.  NEW LOCATION and planned 4 weeks prior to Marathon due to Christmas. This is the 16th year and the 1st year for the new site at Sue Leone’s/Alan Svoboda’s Terrace Home (326 Terrace Ave. 77007)
This is open to all BCRR members and guests Start is 6:30 am from The Terrace House. It is a 21 mile single loop route with several ways to adjust the distance. There are 6 water/Gatorade stops (about every 3 miles). The course map is still on our web site, but it will be adjusted for the new start location. A Drop Box for clothing will be located at the corner of Crestwood and Memorial behind the water fountain and will be picked up about 45-60 minutes after the run starts. Dropped Clothes will placed outside on the back patio.
A full breakfast with adult drinks awaits the finishers. It will be served in the Kitchen Area. We have an indoor and outdoor shower. The Hot tub will be heated and bubbling for those that need some relief.
Please RSVP beforehand so we can get a count for food and drink. We ask for a donation of about $7-8 to help with the cost and a couple of volunteers to help with cooking. So come and join the fun and don’t be late. Front door will be open. Sue & Alan

Running Survey:

A student at A&M Kingsville contacted us requesting help in a running training study he is conducting. He needs you to fill out a 5 minute survey periodically as you train for an event. Let's help him out and contribute to sports research! Here is what he said:
It is a study on runners of any experience level as they are training for a run of any distance - 1 mile all the way up to an ultra. They need to be within the first 25% of their training cycle for the event and over 18. It is a simple series of four surveys, one at the beginning of training, one half way, one ¾, and one post event; each only take about 5 minutes to complete. They will complete the first survey from the link below and then the professor will send them the follow up surveys at the appropriate times. Additionally if they are about to start a training cycle (within the next 1-2 months) but have not yet they are more than welcome to save the link and do the survey when they start. WEEKLY CLUB RUNS:

Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. The goal is to increase membership and recruit new members with this new social event. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. **Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, Mellow Monday will be cancelled for safety reasons. 

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday ev ening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard). 

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one.

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.
