The winners of our Guess Your Finish Time contest for the Houston Marathon and Half Marathon are as follows:
Full Marathon: Mellissa Swanson guessed 4:58:20 and had an actual time of 4:55:08.
Half Marathon: Scott Bounds guessed 1:28:29 and had an actual time of 1:28:07.



Unfortunately, we failed to acknowledge that last Sunday Steve Hasson completed his 20th Houston Marathon including a streak of 17 consecutive.   Congratulations and keep the streak alive Steve!!!

A Dedication Ceremony for the New Runner’s Deck at Memorial Park will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the site of the old stretching deck.  For those new to BCRR Mark was a former BCRR member and very active in the running community.  If you can please show your support by attending.
Immediately following the ceremony and revealing of the memorial plaque in the honor of Mark F. Fraser, a “Loop of the Park” Group Run will be held to and from the New Runner’s Deck. The Bayou City Classic will be upon us March 8;  Many BCRR members participate in the planning for this fun event.  We are seeking additional volunteers for both Packet Stuffing and Packet Pickup.
Packet Stuffing :  Thursday, February 13 at 4:30pm - Memorial Park Golf Course.
Packet Pick Up Dates:
Saturday, March 1, 11-5pm, at WestPoint Lincoln, 1166 Katy Freeway
Sunday, March 2, Noon-5 pm at Fleet Feet, 6590 Woodway

Seymour Lieberman Trail Survey

The Houston Parks Department and Memorial Park Conservancy are conducting a survey on the proposed improvements to the running trail around Memorial Park.  If you run in the park they want your input on the mile marking options that will change the length of the loop around the park.   Please visit their website and review the six options and cast your vote.  http://www.houstontx.gov/parks/ourparks/memorialpark_Survey.html

WEEKLY CLUB RUNS
Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 5:45 at Rice University (run leaves at 6 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard).
Friday Hills at Mount Bacon (Tanglewood):Join us for this weekly run from St. Martins Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road to Mount Bacon. We meet in the church parking lot at the corner of Sage Road and Woodway Drive at 5:30 am. We have a 1.3 mile warm-up run to Mount Bacon and do 2 to 4 miles of hills with a 1.3 mile run back to the church.
Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Join us for the weekly long run from Memorial Park zero-mile marker. We leave promptly at 6:30 and members typically run between 10 and 15 miles.   Afterwards stop by for coffee at Starbucks on Memorial Drive near the park.
