BCRR This Week February 23rd - March 1st

Welcome new members: We'd like to extend a warm Bayou City welcome to our newest  members Rachel Fritsche, Frances Buhay, and Brendon Hall. We look forward to seeing you at the next BCRR club run or social event.

If you are not running the Bayou City Classic 5K/10K, please volunteer!

Please show your support for the Houston running  community, your Club, HARRA, and Houston City Parks by volunteering on Saturday, March 14, 2015 for the Bayou City Classic 10K and 5K.  HARRA needs your help as an experienced runner in filling volunteer spots for key race support positions.  Please help make the race safe and fun for your fellow Club members who are racing.  All proceeds from this race go to the Houston Parks Department. Also, Bayou City Classic volunteers will receive a t-shirt and earn HARRA VVIP volunteer points.

Happy Hour:  (February 20th, 2015) Start the weekend off right with Happy Hour this Friday at Neil's Bahr, 2006 Walker Street, Houston, 77003 at 6:30 p.m. 

Save the date: If you're looking for something new to check off of your bucket list, Andrew is organizing a curling event through Houston Curling on Saturday, February 28th (* please note that the date has changed due to scheduling) from 8-10 p.m. The first 15 people who email him will make the cut to participate in the curling session.   • Our theme will underscore one of the heaviest topics in modern pop culture. Yes, since 2014 was the year of the rear, when the internet was broken more than once by the well endowed derrière, our theme all be "All about that Bass (Base)". We will celebrate big bottom-dom channeling the likes of Kim K, Nicki Menaj, etc.  Everyone welcome. We will leave no one(s) behind!

22nd- LP Run (33 1/3 minutes), Rice University Track 

9th- Bayou Bash Relay, Bear Creek Park

*Underlined races denote HARRA Spring Series races. Participation in these races allows BCRR to remain competitive in HARRA Team Standings. 
Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. The goal is to increase membership and recruit new members with this new social event. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. **Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, Mellow Monday will be cancelled for safety reasons. 
Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 5:45 at Rice University (run leaves at 6 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard).

Friday Hills at Mount Bacon (Tanglewood):Join us for this weekly run from St. Martins Episcopal Church, 
717 Sage Road to Mount Bacon. We meet in the church parking lot at the corner of Sage Road and Woodway Drive at 5:30 am. We have a 1.3 mile warm-up run to Mount Bacon and do 2 to 4 miles of hills with a 1.3 mile run back to the church.

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us at Starbucks (Uptown Park and Post Oak Blvd) for coffee and conversation.
