BCRR WEEKLY UPDATE - March 20th to March 26th


Alternate Wednesday Run
As the Bayou is still under construction and treacherous, we will be running Herman Park instead.

Afterwards, join us at Valhalla for a tab sponsored by Diane (Andrew’s neighbor) in thanks of all the hard work BCRR put into ridding her house of the ivy!

Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon

This fall, venture to Willamette Valley for a weekend of running, wine, and adventure! The race will be Sunday, September 3rd in wine country ~45 minutes from Portland, Oregon. We are ironing out details for accommodations and logistics – Reply to this email to be included in further info! Race details can be found HERE

Bayou City Classic 10K - March 18th 

Congrats to all who raced the Bayou City Classic 5K & 10K this Saturday! BCRR was again a strong presence and making a run for top of the Spring Series. There are a couple weeks to rest up until the Bellaire Trolley Run – April 8th!

(Friday, March 24th, 2017) Please join us this Friday at Edison (4203 Edison St.) for Happy Hour! One of the newest gastropubs in the Heights, with bright lights and craft beer! See you at 6:30 PM. 
Sunday – Whole Foods

(Sunday, March 26th, 2017) Join us immediately following the long run for coffee and breakfast at Whole Foods on Waugh

Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. The goal is to increase membership and recruit new members with this new social event. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. **Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, Mellow Monday will be cancelled for safety reasons. 

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard). 

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one. 

Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.
