Jetsetters Lisa Thompson and Avi Moss competed in the Cape Town Marathon this weekend.  Avi finished the race in 4:03 and Lisa in 3:52! This completes their 8th Abbott World Major marathon. The 2nd annual Tejas Beer 5K is this Saturday, May 30th, at Tejas Brewery (2101 Summer St.  Houston, 77007). BCRR will be supporting the race and manning a water stop.  We will have our tent at the event to promote BCRR and Alex's 5k. Friday, June 26th, 2026! Our Annual BCRR Awards Banquet and Elections will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026. We will be having it again at the Fellowship Hall, Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, TX. Details to be announced soon, but there will be food, drinks, and fun!  We will announce the our running and volunteer recognition awards and hold our annual BCRR Board Elections.... Speaking of elections, here is our current slate of nominees for the 2026-2027 BCRR Board of Directors: President: Steve Hasson (current incumbent VP) Vice-President: Anna Helm (current incumbent At Large) Secretary: Karina Yonekawa-Blest Treasurer: Kavi Kulkarni At Large Members: Joel DuBois (incumbent), Mirna Chang Lee (incumbent), Jamie Lopez, Susan Cita    Candidate bios and voting information to follow. Kathi Mahon, Joe & Hope Sellers are cycling off the board this year. We thank them for their service. ­ HARRA Summer Celebration HARRA’s Annual Summer Celebration will be at the Montrose Center on Sunday June 28th from 6:10PM to 8:30PM! Food! Drinks! Awards! Board Elections! Silent Auction! (We note this is 2 days after our BCRR Year End Celebration, so prepare for a weekend bracketed by awesome parties!) DETAILS Runners: If you are a HARRA member you can check on the accuracy of your results on the Leaderboard for the HARRA Runner of the Season (RotS). Spring Series data is listed through the relay. Tejas Brewery. Runners and Volunteers welcome! 🏃🏃 Sunday: 6:30AM: BCRR Long Run - Memorial Park Tennis Center. ­ Renewal Season is off and running! The official "running year" for both BCRR and HARRA memberships runs from June 30th to July1st, so all current memberships will need to be renewed by July 1st, 2026.    Renew now and be good through 6/30/27!  Both BCRR and HARRA  have an "Early Bird" registration period so it is easy (and cheaper) to renew now before June 30, 2026.  (Note: anyone who joined or renewed after 4/1/26 will automatically been renewed for the upcoming year.)  (Note that Both the current year's membership package and the Early Bird membership package appear on the BCRR page. Be sure to scroll down to the Early Bird option!)   Save $5 on both memberships for the upcoming year. If you are a current HARRA member, you will save an additional $5 off your BCRR Membership.
