Houston Half Marathon & 10K
Get ready for the next race in the HARRA Fall Series - the Houston Half Marathon & 10K - Sunday, October 28th! For more details and registration, CLICK HERE!

  • Open to all runners - whether or not you ran the half!
  • Pizza for refuling!

Alex's 5K Run/Walk & Kids' K is a 3 weeks away!  
Alex's 5K  is BCRR's very own race and all the proceeds go to local autism charities: Avondale House, The Westview School, and Autism Speaks Houston.

To those new to the club, the race features an accurately measured (by our own official USATF course certifier Jay Hendrickson) flat and fast course, a Kids' K with awesome kids' activity zone (including our signature EggStravaganza Egg Hunt), $100 cash prizes for open and masters winners, an epic post-race party with food, drinks and Saint Arnold's beer.

Practice for the Tour de Bayou Series
Practice for the Tour cross country series comprises four (4) stages and happens every October after much anticipated after the Tour de Bayou held in the Spring.

The races are free and open to everyone, you just have to promise to be careful! They are cross country (not on pavement). Distances vary from roughly three miles to five miles. Houston Area Road Runners Association will provide water, gatorade and Karbach will sponsor some post- race carb replacement.

Fall 2018 Practice for the Tour: All stages are run on Thursday and start at 6:00 p.m.

WEEKLY CLUB RUNS:
Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun.
Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard).
To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one.
Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net
Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.
**Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, group runs will be cancelled for safety reasons. Check the BCRR Facebook Page for the latest updates on run cancellations**

Run for a Reason Kick Off Party

Save the date for the Run for a Reason Kick Off Party on Thursday, June 16th. The celebration will be from 5-7 pm at the Memorial Park  Picnic Loop. 

Volunteers will be needed for set up and to help man the tent. Please reply to this email to volunteer!

Post-Sunday Run Yoga Class - June 26th 

On Sunday, June 26, Yoga Athletex will be hosting a post run, yoga cool down at Memorial Park. Meet at 8:30 AM on the Stretch Deck following your Sunday run and bring your yoga mat!

Yoga Athletex keeps athletes moving, regardless of their limitations, with responsive programming based in yoga, sports performance training and mindfulness. Our vision is to create a healthier life-long athletic community in Houston, from youth to adult athletes.

During our 30 minute session, we will give you the tools you need to stretch, increase mobility and prevent injury specific to long distance runners. Already working through an injury? Don’t worry, we’ll have modifications for you too! Because, we keep you moving!

In addition, we’ll have light snacks for you to fuel properly. We’ve partnered with Larrikin to provide all natural and handmade muesli & energy balls made here in Houston. Seriously tasty & free of refined sugar & artificial preservatives. Larrikin is a little taste of Aussie in Texas.

HARRA NEWS

The annual HARRA Banquet and Board Elections will take place on Sunday, June 26th at St Arnold's Brewery from 6-9 PM. Your ticket includes a great buffet dinner and St Arnold's beverages. There will be the usual great raffle prizes and awards for runner of the season, club competition and volunteers. A great time to mingle with your brethren from our sister clubs! Best of all, celebrate our Overall Club victory!
