BCRR Runs the World | Purple Monkeys abound in Alvin! | Every
Labor day weekend, the Beneezy Purple Monkey Run happens at the high
School in Alvin, Texas, raising monies to provide scholarships to their
seniors. BCRR folks love a cause AND the color purple, to a few of us
drove south to run the 5K
and for June, the 10K. Mirna Chang and myself managed 1-2 finish in
the 60-64 age group, which was 49th and 50th overall, and Ron Morgan won
75-79. June Harris spent twice as long in the heat for 2nd AG in the 10K! | | | Caryn qualifies for Boston! | | |

Honig and LaTasha Gary traveled to Marquette, Michigan for a Full and a
half. Caryn Qualified for Boston with a 4:12:40, and Latasha finished
the half in 2:0:532 |

Run Club Day at Daiken Park - Sept 6 | From the Prez: Thank
you to The Houston Astros for setting up today as Run Club Day! Our
Bayou City Roadrunners had a great time touring the field, then manning a
table in the Hall of Fame Concourse, where we talked about running with
10,000 or so Astros fans who walked by. It was a blast, and we look

| | Road Kill Cross Country 5k - Sept 19
| | |
| | | Hosted by Trail Racing Over Texas and Hardloop Endurance. The Road Kill XC is the 2026 HARRA Fall Series cross-country team event for all ages, clubs, and teams (not just HARRA clubs). New
for 2026 we will be running an open 5km race instead of a relay and
scoring the meet for clubs and teams to compete just like the high
school days.
As usual, BCRR will be sponsoring teams
in which all runners have current BCRR and HARRA memberships (you must
have BCRR designated as your primary club in your HARRA profile). You
must renew both memberships before the race! You
will receive instructions how to register yourself and your team (each
runner will need to register and use a prepaid code) from your race
organizer soon.
Classic XC Scoring but "Four Score":
Teams
of 4-6 members. The top 4 will score for the team, with runners in 5-6
position being used as a tie-breaker (if needed). Lowest score wins -
1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, etc. All teams will be scored
in the open race, in addition to gender/age/club divisions. All members
must meet requirement for the divisions, for example: club competition
must have teammates from the same club, age categories must all
individually be in the age range (or older).
