BCRR WEEKLY UPDATE: October 17th to October 23rd


Wednesday Night at Valhalla
Join us Wednesday night to stuff packets for Alex’s 5K! The tab will be co-sponsored by Kathi Mahon (Happy Birthday!!) & Lara Allen (Happy 5K!!).

Houston Half Marathon & 10K – Sunday, October 30th

Luke’s Locker, Koala Health and Wellness, and the Houston Striders are excited to present the 2016 Houston Half & 10K event! Registration information can be found HERE

Following the race, join the club at Andrew Young’s home (4010 Mandell St.) for a post-race party. Lasagna, beer, & wine will be provided. Please bring a side or drink, along with your swim suit to cool off…or warm up… in the pool or hot tub. Food will be ready by 10 AM.

It’s that time of the year again!! Alex’s 5K is right around the corner!! Race will be held Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at MacGregor Park. Registration is open at www.alex5k.com

Please consider running or volunteering to support a great cause that is near and dear to the club!

·         BCRR Invades Austin – November 19-20th: Susan & Steve Davis have invited BCRR to Austin! Festivities include a Saturday AM run with their run club, Ship of Fools, brunch, and cocktail hour at the Davis' home (54 Rainey St). Two hotels have been recommended based on location:

(Friday, October 21st,  2016) Please join us this Friday at Boheme (307 Fairview St). A quaint bar in the Montrose area with quite the decorated garden.

Sunday – Whole Foods

(Sunday, October 23rd, 2016) Join us immediately following the long run for coffee and breakfast at Whole Foods on Waugh.


Mellow Monday- Join us every Monday for a 3 mile recovery run around Memorial Park at 7:00p.m.Runners who are interested should park on the east side of the parking lot in front of the softball fields off of the Picnic Loop. The goal is to increase membership and recruit new members with this new social event. Following a loop around Memorial, we head to a dinner venue for post running fun. **Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, Mellow Monday will be cancelled for safety reasons. 

Wednesday at Rice University: Every Wednesday evening we meet at 6:30 at Rice University (run leaves at 6:40 pm sharp!). All levels are welcome. And the best part is the cheap beer at Valhalla afterwards. Parking is available at First Christian Church/School (1628 Rice Boulevard). 

To park in the church parking lot, you need a BCRR bumper sticker. Please see Lisa Thompson for a sticker if you do not already have one. 

Friday Speedwork (Memorial Park 5:30 AM): Contact Peter Griffiths for more information-  p_griffiths@bellsouth.net

Sunday Long Run (Memorial Park, 6:30 AM): Meet us at the O mile marker for a 10, 11, or 12 mile route around Memorial Park and through River Oaks. Immediately following the run, join us Whole Foods for coffee and conversation.
