It's time for that year end tradition - John's Looong Run! The event begun by John Phillips is hosted once again by Sue Leone & Alan Svoboda
at their home (see your weekly email for the address or email houstonbcrr@gmail.com). The 21-ish mile
course runs around Memorial Park, through River Oaks and Tanglewood
neighborhoods and ends back at Sue and Alan's where all manner of
breakfast food, beverages, and camaraderie awaits. Pool and hot tub
available, so bring your towel! All we ask is for a $10 donation at the
door. Not running? Consider volunteering to help with the breakfast prep or water stop duty. Reply to this email or contact Alan at svobodeaux007@gmail.com. The route can be shortened if 20 miles is not on your training schedule. Detailed course info in graphic above.
Course well-marked (mile markers and directional arrows) with orange
paint on the street. There are 6 Gatorade/water stations in addition to
the water fountains in Memorial Park. NEW THIS YEAR: Due to the cancellation of the 30K, which was to take place on the same day, BCRR is partnering with HARRA and the Houston Striders
to provide a FREE supported long run to the Houston running community.
Thus, our course will be open to anyone who wants to run. HARRA and the
Striders will help with course support, but the official start and end
for the public will be at Memorial Park (Blossom entrance/swimming pool)
instead of Sue and Alan's house. We will rendezvous with the group at
Blossom entrance to Memorial Park. Runners can RSVP HERE |
