Greetings Bayou City Road Runners The Word from the Bird ­ In This Newsletter:  ­   Safety Alert: Recent Incident on Rice U. Campus! Holiday Schedule! ­ ­ Crime Alert There was an incident on Rice U Campus on the night of Nov. 30th. Two students were robbed at gunpoint around 8PM in West lot 2 (behind the tennis courts off Rice Blvd and near the football stadium). The perps were 3 young men who absconded with one of the victim's cell phones into Rice Village. The students were unhurt.  Since this is near our running route on Wednesday, please be careful and don't walk around alone. More Info ­ Valhalla Wednesday Goodbye to Leyla & Eivind! Huge thanks go to Stacy Smith for stepping up to sponsor the tab last week to preserve our streak! This marked the 31st consecutive week of sponsored Valhalla tabs! This week is the first Wednesday of the month and you know what that means: It's Alumni Night at Valhalla!  But, more importantly, it is also the farewell party for Leyla and Eivind Østerhus, who are moving back to Europe in a few days 😢. They will be sponsoring the tab. Come out and give them the BCRR send off! The Wednesday run, as always, starts at 6:30PM sharp from the First Christian Church Parking lot. ­ XMAS Lights Run NEXT Wednesday Dec 10th, 6:30PM Join us at the Rose Garden on Lazy Lane for our annual community run/walk (~4 miles) to view the lights in River Oaks. Dress festively and conspicuously (i.e. wear lights and reflective clothing). For safety, please keep children with you.    We will be collaborating with HARRA and inviting everyone in the running community again this year, so spread the word!   We will convene at Kenneally's Irish Pub afterwards for drinks, food and door prizes!  (photo: J. Harris) ­ Coach Andy Stewart's 30K & 10K HARRA Fall Series Race ­ For the 2nd year, the Houston Harriers will present the 30K, the penultimate race in the HARRA Fall Series. The race will be held in Sugar Land and will feature a 10K in addition to the 30K.    The race is part of the Marathon Warmup Series, which includes the Space City 10-Miler, the Houston Half Marathon and the HMSA 25K. It will also be the last selection race for the Chevron Houston Marathon Local Elite Program. SIGN UP ­ BCRR THIS WEEK:  🏃🏃‍♀️ 😎 Monday 7PM: Mellow Cyber Monday.
