2024 USATF Southwest Region Masters Indoor Championships - Feb. 18th Track aficionados gathered at USATF Masters Track and Field Southern Region Indoor Championships at UH this Sunday. BCRR member and ChicknLegs Ambassador Scott Moore competed in the 800m (02:18.5 - 1st M35, 2nd in heat) and the mile (05:02.0 - 1st M35, 2nd in heat). Milan Jamrich was 2nd in his age-group in high jump.   Friend of BCRR Ben Harvie ran the mile (07:11.0 at age 77 - good for 1st age-group).   The major highlight was witnessing local legend Ino Cantu set a new American record in the 800m for M90-94 (4:16:92)! Ino broke the previous record set by the legendary Orville Rogers by 3 seconds. Ino has set many American and world records over the years and still holds the world records for M80-84 and M85-89 in the mile (indoor). Will he go after Roger's M90 WR in the mile next?   CONGRATULATIONS ALL!   Full Results

Austin Half Marathon Leyla Østerhus placd 2nd in her age group (1:42:31) at the Austin Half Marathon on Sunday. If anyone else ran, let us know so we can brag about you!.    CONGRATULATIONS!

HARRA RotS: Check Your Results!

HARRA's Runner of the Season (RotS) results for the HARRA Fall Race Series are now posted on the LEADERBOARD. Results are based on cumulative age-graded performance for 3/4 races (not 2/4 as it says on the website).   Please check the results for accuracy and send any omissions or changes to VP-Clubs (clubs@harra.org).    The top 3 runners in each division receive a CASH award from HARRA (must have run at least 3 races to qualify for cash prize). Bayou City Classic 10K/5K - March 2nd The Bayou City Classic 10K is a HARRA Spring Series Race, Texas' Oldest 10K, and the 2024 Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Texas State 10K Championship.   Let's bring the BCRR Centipede back!    Who's in? If someone is interested in forming a centipede, post on our Facebook group or reply to houstonbcrr@gmail.com. We have a lot of Barbie and Ken outfits out there from the Halloween party that could be recycled as running kit!   Centipede Deets: Each centipede member must register as an individual in either the 10k or the 5k, but all in the same event.  Runners do not have to be in BCRR to be in our centipede.     Save $5 on the Bayou City Classic: Use code: BCRR24 at registration. Poppy's Run For Life 5K - March 17th  When: March 17, 2024, 8AM   Where: Hennessy Park, 1900 Lyons Avenue, Houston, TX 77020   Why: Support Poppy's Run for Life, organized by BCRR member Caryn Honig in memory of her father and grandfather, who both died by suicide.   From Caryn:  "It is my hope that through education and awareness, those suffering from depression and/or a mental illness will seek help. Poppy’s Run For Life is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to honor our loved ones who have died by suicide and to raise funds and awareness about suicide and mental health resources.  All funds raised go to the suicide prevention and awareness programs and services at Alexand JFS and the Montrose Center.  So far, we have donated $30,000 to both organizations to be used specifically for suicide prevention, education and awareness programs."   We are forming a BCRR team in memory of BCRR member Jim Knievel, who passed away in October. ­ HARRA SPRING SERIES RACES

BCRR is a member club of the Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA) and participates in its competitions based on our members' performance in the HARRA Race Series.  Top runners in the individual categories receive cash awards. Rankings can be viewed on the HARRA Leaderboard.
