The Bayou City Classic 10K is a HARRA Spring Series Race, Texas' Oldest 10K, and the 2024 Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Texas State 10K Championship.
It is also a race near and dear to BCRR as key positions on the race
committee are occupied by BCRR members, including Race Director Joe Sellers, Co-Director Hope Sellers, Volunteer coordinator Susan Cita, June Harris (sponsorship), Kathi Mahon (registration/promotion), Hans Wong (Promotion/ambassador program), John Phillips, Bob Thompson, Andrew Young, Joel DuBois, Anna Helm (course and organizational support). A pre-COVID tradition we'd like to bring back is a BCRR entry in the "Centipede Contest".
A centipede consists of at least 6 people in costume running tethered
together. The centipede should have a clever theme, In the past, we've
had Super Heroes, Game of Thrones, The Marilyns, Octomom and the
Octuplets, Steroid Peddlers. Not all centipedes were in good taste (All
About That Bass) or were PC (in retrospect the one about young women
making bad choices was arguably a bad choice). But in all cases, we had a
lot of fun! Who's in? If
someone is interested in forming a centipede, post on our Facebook
group or reply to houstonbcrr@gmail.com. We have a lot of Barbie and Ken
outfits out there from the Halloween party that could be recycled as
running kit! Centipede Deets:
Each centipede member must register as an individual in either the 10k
or the 5k, but all in the same event. Runners do not have to be in BCRR
to be in our centipede. Save $5 on the Bayou City Classic: Use code: BCRR24 at registration. |
