BCRR Past-President and Boston Marathon Champion Lisa Thompson and her guide Alexi Pappas were interviewed by Hannah Donnelly on the On Her Mark podcast (NBC Sports Boston, May 13th). They discuss their long partnership and survival strategies in running the Boston Marathon (and other events) as visually-impaired runner and guide. This Wednesday: Bayou Bash Appreciation Party ­ The Bayou Bash Relay will be celebrating another successful event by sponsoring the beer tab and providing pizza at Valhalla after the Wednesday run. We appreciate all the BCRR runners and volunteers who participated in the relay and HARRA Picnic and look forward to doing it again next year!    May is shaping up to be Beer Tab Month as the tab will be sponsored next Wednesday by Bill Lindsey in celebration of his birthday!  .  ­ This Saturday: LP Run - May 24th ONLINE SIGNUP ENDS WEDNESDAY NIGHT!  SAVE MONEY AND SIGN UP NOW! INFO   The last individual race of the HARRA Spring Series is the LP Run, presented by the Terlingua Track Club, on Saturday May 24th at Rice University Track. The goal of this race is to run as far as you can in 33 1/3 minutes, in contrast to running a set distance for time.   Last chance to improve your standings in the HARRA Runner of the Season (ROTS. Come run and cheer your fellow runners! Also Limerick Contest.

­ Tejas Beer 5K - May 31st

BCRR will be partnering with the Run in Texas Beer Run Series for the inaugural Tejas Beer 5K on May 31st at Tejas Brewery (2101 Summer St.  Houston, 77007). This popular race series consists of events run from local independent breweries all over Texas. Participants receive a shirt, beer glass and choice of craft beer. The post race parties for this series are always great!  This will be the first race taking place inside the loop!   BCRR will be manning a water stop and will have our tent at the event. Run in Texas will make a generous donation for our charities.  We encourage folks to volunteer or run. BCRR Year End Celebration - June 6

Bayou City Road Runners Year End Celebration, Awards Banquet & Board Elections   When: Friday, June 6th, 6:30-9:30PM   Where: Fellowship Hall, Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, TX. Just across the street from the Mecca of Houston running, Memorial Park   What:  Menu - Food TBA. Drinks: a selection of wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks   How Much: We've kept the prices low, ensuring an accessible celebration for all. Please sign up early so we know how many to plan for. $10 -Thru May 31st, 11:59PM $15 - June 1 - 5th, 11:59PM $20 June 6th at the door Kids 11 and under FREE    Our annual election for the Board of Directors will also take place at the event. Early Bird Registration

Renewal Season is off and running! The official "running year" for both BCRR and HARRA memberships runs from June 30th to July1st, so all current memberships will need to be renewed by July 1st, 2025.    Renew now and be good through 6/30/26!  Both BCRR and HARRA  have an "Early Bird" registration period so it is easy (and cheaper) to renew now before June 30, 2025.  (Note: anyone who joined or renewed after 4/1/25 has automatically been renewed for the upcoming year.)    Save $5 on both memberships for the upcoming year. If you are a current HARRA member, you will save an additional $5 off your BCRR Membership (that's $10 off)! Prices increase on July 1st, 2025. BCRR MEMBERSHIP

Mellow Monday 7 pm at Memorial Park Tennis Center (on trail in front of Center) for a 3 mile casual paced run around the Park and dinner to follow	Wednesday Run 6:30 pm at First Christian Church for a 3-6 mile run around Rice University and Hermann Park followed by drinks at Valhalla	Friday Speedwork 5:30 am at Memorial Park Running Center. Contact Peter Griffiths for more info	Sunday Long Run 6:30 am at Memorial Park Tennis Center (on trail in front of Center) for a 10-12 mile supported run w/ water at 2 locations followed by breakfast at Whole Foods in Montrose (701 Waugh Dr Houston, TX 77019)
