HALLOWEEN PARTY The Modern B&B was awash in Pepto-pink at the Halloween Party last Friday! Barbies were abundant and there were just Kenough Kens! Unexpectedly, dead artists were the 2nd most popular costume theme: Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dalì, Andy Warhol, and a Matisse painting really classed up the place. Houston Half Marathon & 10K BCRR toed the line with 7500+ fellow runners at the Houston Half Marathon &10K on Sunday in less than ideal conditions with "feels-like" 79 degree temps. Nevertheless, we persisted. On a day when just finishing was a great accomplishment, many made it to the podium, including Allyson Serrao who was RRCA Texas State Half Marathon Grand Master Female Champion as well as 1st (F-55) with a 1:37:07 finish.    Other podium finishers in the half marathon: Leyla Østerhus 2nd F50 (1:49:27), Gloria Mahoney 1st F70 (2:27:38), Avi Moss 2nd M60 (1:33:41), Fred Steves 2nd M75 (2:36:12). In the 10K: Cathy McGlohn 1st F60 (1:01:08).   Congratulations to everyone who ran! Kudos to the Houston Striders for producing a very well organized race and post race party. (photo: M. Jamrich)

Wednesday Nov. 1st, 6:30PM: Alumni Night at Valhalla. Run starts from First Christian Church at 6:30. Valhalla ~7:15. BCRR pays the tab. Friday, Nov. 3rd, 700PM: BCRR Happy Hour at West Alabama Ice House, 919 W. Alabama St. Saturday, Nov. 4th, 8:00AM: Alex's 5K & Kids' K, MacGregor Park, 5225 Calhoun Rd., Houston, TX US 77021 (please run or volunteer - see below) Sunday, Nov. 5th, 2AM: DON'T FORGET: SET CLOCKS BACK 1 HOUR Sunday, Nov. 5th, 6:30AM: Bayou Run (1st Sunday of the month). Start at Memorial Park Tennis Center and run up Buffalo Bayou Park to Sabine and back. Fluid at Memorial and Shepherd and Sabine turnaround. ­

JIM KNIEVEL CELEBRATION OF LIFE A Celebration of Life for Jim Knievel will be held Nov. 4th (1-3PM) in their home (523 Highmeadow Ranch Dr., Magnolia, TX, 77355. RSVP to johnrbass1955@gmail.com if you would like to attend.   Alex's 5k is that morning and Ivy has suggested people may come in their race gear if they wish. Jim would appreciate a "post-race party" send-off.

Sundays Need Hydration Support Who likes water during the Sunday long runs? Especially during the summer temps! Our Sunday morning hydration team could use a little more help as people go on vacation. Please contact Loris at Loris0105@yahoo.com for more information on how to volunteer!

Weekly Club Runs

Mellow Monday 7 pm at Memorial Park Tennis Center for a 3 mile casual paced run around the Park and dinner to follow Wednesday Run 6:30 pm at First Christian Church for a 3-6 mile run around Rice University and Hermann Park followed by drinks at Valhalla Friday Speedwork 5:30 am at Memorial Park Running Center. Contact Peter Griffiths for more info Sunday Long Run 6:30 am at Memorial Park Tennis Center for a 10-12 mile supported run w/ water at 2 locations followed by breakfast at Starbucks (1300 Post Oak Park Drive)

**Please note that in cases of inclement weather, i.e. thunder & lightning, group runs will be cancelled for safety reasons. Check the BCRR Facebook Page for the latest updates on run cancellations**   If you are feeling ill, have a fever, or have been exposed to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, please do not attend club runs for 2 weeks.
