­ BOARD ELECTIONS - CALLING ALL NOMINEES Our annual board elections will take place at the 40th Anniversary Party on May 17th. If you've ever dreamed of being an integral cog in a well-functioning machine, or even if you would just like to give back to our great club, this is an opportunity for you! We are accepting nominations for board positions now!  You may run for any position, but we have uncontested Member At-Large positions - the perfect entrée into the inner workings of the club. If you would like to nominate yourself or a friend or have questions about the positions, please contact houstonbcrr@gmail.com. Ballot will be announced about a week before the event. ­ BCRR 40th ANNIVERSARY PARTY - May 17th We invite all Bayou City Road Runners - past, present and future - to join us for an evening commemorating four decades of BCRR running history. We will have dinner, drinks and riveting speeches reliving our glorious past and significant contributions to the Houston Running Community. We will also present our year end awards and hold annual board elections.   When: Friday, May 17, 2024, 6:00PM to 9PM.    Where: Fellowship Hall, Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, TX. Just across the street from the Mecca of Houston running, Memorial Park   What:  Menu: Italian meal catered by Chef Memo. (A selection of appetizers, salads, and pasta dishes). Drinks (beer, wine, ice tea, lemonade, water), dessert    NOTE: We are instituting tiered pricing to encourage early sign ups so we can plan!    $10 through May 11th, 11:59PM  $20 - May 12 - 16th, 11:59PM $25 May 17th at the door   You do not need to be a current member of BCRR to attend (but of course we strongly encourage it!) This Saturday! LP Run - May 11 ­ Last HARRA Spring Series Race ­ The last individual race of the HARRA Spring Series is the LP Run, presented by the Terlingua Track Club, on Saturday May 11th at Rice University Track. The goal of this race is to run as far as you can in 33 1/3 minutes, in contrast to running a set distance for time. The men's heat starts at 7:33AM, Kid's Lap at 8:20AM, and the woman's  heat at 8:40AM.    Last chance to improve your standings in the HARRA Runner of the Season (ROTS) (see below). ­ HARRA Spring Runner of the Season SPRING 2024 ROTS results are up for 4 out of 5 races this season! Click here for the leaderboard to see how you rank against your friends and rivals. Some BCRR folks are up there at the tippy-top!   Calculate what you need to run in the remaining HARRA Series race, The LP Run, on May 11th. Please inspect your results and contact clubs@harra.org if there any changes that need to be made. About the RotS   RotS standings will be calculated on the best 3 out of 5 individual races in the HARRA Spring Series. Your points also count for your club standings in the Interclub Competitions HARRA ROTS LEADERBOARD ­

Happy Hour Join us Friday evening, May 10th, for another collaborative community run/happy hour with the Freaks Run Club .  Meet at 7:15PM for a run (or just show up to socialize). The venue and running routes are announced later in the week. Mellow Monday 7 pm at Memorial Park Tennis Center (on trail in front of Center) for a 3 mile casual paced run around the Park and dinner to follow	Wednesday Run 6:30 pm at First Christian Church for a 3-6 mile run around Rice University and Hermann Park followed by drinks at Valhalla	Friday Speedwork 5:30 am at Memorial Park Running Center. Contact Peter Griffiths for more info	Sunday Long Run 6:30 am at Memorial Park Tennis Center (on trail in front of Center) for a 10-12 mile supported run w/ water at 2 locations followed by breakfast at Whole Foods in Montrose (701 Waugh Dr Houston, TX 77019)
