Thanks to all of you, the event on Saturday was a spectacular success!
We had 84 Teams compete!
This is a record number of teams for the relay since BCRR took over the
race in 2015. The close second was 81 teams in pre-pandemic 2018. We even had our first stroller team!
We
also had teams from a number of newer running clubs that are not
traditional HARRA clubs. It was terrific to see new (young) faces and
the energy that comes with bringing a critical mass of enthusiastic
people together. Shout out to HARRA Social Media Director, RRCA At-Large
Director, and BCRR member Hans Wong for working over
the last few years to liason with all Houston running clubs and spread
the word about this, and other, HARRA events.
Thank
you everyone who participated: runners, relay team coordinators, and
especially the volunteers, many of whom step up every year.
Huge thanks to: John Phillips, Joel DuBois, and Ryan Terry (HARRA) for course set up and management. Dave Piper, Anna Helm, Mike Mangan, Jason Doehring, Joe and Hope Sellers for making the race happen. Susan Cita for orchestrating the Picnic. And of course Joel DuBois for schlepping the beer!
Special thanks to Milan Jamrich for photography (posted on Facebook and HERE) but especially for retrieving the "left behind" bibs...
Thanks to Relay Division Captains: Christina Young, Anna Helm, Kathi Mahon, Andrew Young, Joel DuBois, and Mike Mangan.
BCRR fielded 13 teams! There were many teams who made it to the podium, notably a 1st place finish for the Open Women (BCRR Killer Bees), a 3rd place finish for the Masters Males (Dangling Participles), 1st place Masters Female (BCRR Tourtured Runners Society), 3rd pace Senior male (BCRR Still Fast and Furious), 1st place Senior Female (BCRR Queen Bees), Veteran Male 1st (BCRR Sixty is Sexty) and 2nd (BCRR Scrambled Legs), Veteran Female 2nd (BCRR Bumble Bees), Ultra-Vet Men 2nd (BCRR Ver-men), and in the 80+ category: 1st (BCRR Lin-Deans).
Congratulations Everybody (and thanks again),
KM
